Seaweed Starter
The Seanure Process begins with the harvesting of a specially chosen seaweed
- Ascophyllum nodosum – which is picked for its extremely high content
of alginates and other gums. It flourishes in its native habitat along
some of the most beautiful stretches of Ireland's western coastline where
it is carefully nurtured and cropped. Vitally, it is able to regenerate
itself in as little as three to four years, making it a most valuable
renewable resource.
Making a Meal
of it
Once collected, the fresh seaweed is immediately taken to a drying plant
where it is washed in fresh water to remove surface salts. It is then
dried and ground under exacting conditions into a clean, constant meal.
Although nutritious, the seaweed meal in this state would take a considerable length of time to release these nutrients to benefit the soil, especially where the microbial activity is low or even non-existent. This delay could mean not only a failure to build up the quality of the soil but also a temporary nitrogen deficiency.

So what’s the secret to Seanure’s impressive results? Well, when Seanure
comes into contact with moisture in the soil it unlocks up to 40 times
more alginate than the unprocessed seaweed meal – now that’s impressive!
